My Little Pony: The Movie - AR Filter
Teaming up with Lionsgate & Facebook, The Mill created two AR selfie filters for the release of My Little Pony: The Movie in October 2017.
Fans can access the My Little Pony camera effects by tapping on the camera icon on the top left corner of the Facebook app or by swiping right from their News Feeds to open the Facebook Camera, a new in-app camera/capture experience that is packed with masks, frames, and style effects that users can apply to photos and videos. The My Little Pony camera effect is based on the two protagonists in the film Twilight Sparkle (Tara Strong) and Tempest Shadow (Emily Blunt) - throughout the film portrayed as the good pony and the bad pony.
Maintaining visual fidelity for 2D animation on a 3-dimensional human with serious data limits is quite the challenge. This was also the first time Facebook and The Mill had teamed up on facial deformation programming. I was the lead designer & art directed this project from pitch to final delivery with a team of artists and developers at The Mill.
